On Tuesday, December 3, 2019 Costa Enterprises will host a ribbon cutting ceremony and celebratory luncheon to commemorate the opening of the new “McPlayroom,” located in the Ronald McDonald House Family Room at the Studer Family Children’s Hospital at Ascension Sacred Heart.

The Ronald McDonald House Family Room opened earlier this year in the newly built Studer Family Children’s Hospital at Ascension Sacred Heart and is an extension of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Florida. The Family Room is a 2,800-square-foot space located next to the neonatal intensive care unit on the second floor of the children’s hospital. The space includes an open living room, dining room, a full kitchen, three bathrooms, a shower room, a laundry room, computer area, and three private bedrooms for overnight accommodations when families need to be seconds away from their children who are in critical condition. The newly added “McPlayroom” will offer children of the Ronald McDonald House families a place to unwind, relax, play, and have fun while their siblings or family members are being cared for in the hospital. Costa Enterprises will also be incorporating some of their signature playland décor, similar to what you would find in one of their restaurants, into the new “McPlayroom.”

“We want this to be a home away from home for the entire family,” said Judy Burns, executive director of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Florida. “We’ve seen a tremendous need for this space since the children’s hospital opened, and we are so blessed to be able to help more families than ever before.”

From 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., the community is invited to attend the official ribbon cutting ceremony with Costa Enterprises, the Greater Pensacola Chamber of Commerce, Ronald McDonald House, and the Studer Family Children’s Hospital at Ascension Sacred Heart. The ceremony will be followed by a complimentary appreciation luncheon provided by McDonald’s.

“We feel very lucky to sponsor the playroom whose goal is to provide a sense of home and normalcy for those families who need it most,” said David Costa Sr., president of Costa Enterprises. “As a company, we strive to bring joy and a “lovin’ it” sense of living to kids and families in order to keep spirits high and a smile on everyone’s face even in the hardest of times.”
