Old Florida Fish House Raises Thousands for Alaqua Animal Refuge During Fourth Annual Wreath Event

Seagrove Beach, Fla. (December 18, 2017) – Old Florida Fish House held its Fourth Annual Wreaths for Alaqua event, benefitting Alaqua Animal Refuge, on Wednesday, November 29, 2017. The event raised $7,565 for Alaqua, surpassing last year’s event by nearly $2,000.

Auctioneer Helen “Redd” Vizard vivaciously auctioned off 23 wreaths created by local artists, businesses, and individuals especially for this event. The wreaths, some of which were packaged with bonus items and gift certificates, went to the highest bidder during this festive holiday fundraiser for Alaqua.

“It was incredible to see how the wreath makers stepped it up a notch this year,” says Alaqua Animal Refuge Communications Director Mary Chris Murry. “The wreaths were incredibly creative and beautiful, and were packaged with so many goodies! Items on wreaths ranged from gift cards and ornaments all the way to teeth whitening systems, jewelry, and a charter fishing trip.”

Old Florida Fish House and Alaqua Animal Refuge would like to thank those who decorated wreaths including 30A Television, Beachy Beach 30A Real Estate, Buddy’s Seafood Market, Clay 30A Garden, Pottery & Blessings, Counts Real Estate Group 30A, Grayton Beer Company, Hill Coleman, LLC, Little Barn Apothecary, Mary Hong Gallery, Moon Creek Studios, Proffitt PR, Redd’s Fueling Station, Shades Bar & Grill, Shelby Rochester with Premier Property Group, Smileology- Santa Rosa Beach, Sofitco Fitness Outfitters and Sofitco Studios on 30A, South Walton Coastal Branch Library, SoWal, Team Asbell-Beachy Beach/Panama City Beach, The 30A Company, The Blue Giraffe, The Hive Creative Consulting/The Honeycomb, The Studio Gallery, and Yellow Fin Ocean Sports.

About Alaqua Animal Refuge

Alaqua Animal Refuge is a no-kill animal shelter and sanctuary, located in the panhandle of Florida. A member of the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries, Alaqua believes that every abused, neglected and homeless animal deserves a second chance. Committed to providing protection, shelter and care to animals in need, this private, non-profit Refuge also offers a full-service adoption center, educational outreach, and community programs that extend far beyond their geographic location. Since its inception in 2007, Alaqua has become a recognized leader in animal rescue, welfare, cruelty prevention, and advocacy. Alaqua is currently in the midst of a relocation and expansion capital campaign to build a one-of-a-kind facility—the first in the United States—on 100 donated acres.
