Proceeds doubled from their second annual event
On Saturday, September 14, 2019 the Point Washington Medical Clinic (PWMC) hosted the Third Annual Harvest Moon Celebration Fundraiser and raised a total of $51,000. PWMC is a non-profit, independent 501(c)3 organization that operates as a no-fee, volunteer driven, primary clinic located in Santa Rosa Beach.
This year’s event saw more attendees than ever before. The weekend kicked off with a community yoga session at the RUN/SUP Boathouse in WaterColor that drew over 50 locals, and a record breaking 200 people attended the main event on Saturday evening at Ruskin Place in Seaside. Funds were raised through ticket sales, t-shirt sales, raffle ticket sales, and personal donations. There was an extensive silent auction with 135 items, as well as an exciting live auction featuring a piece of artwork painted live during the main event by local artist, Maxine Orange. The money raised will directly benefit and assist with the clinic’s day-to-day operational costs and expand their hours and treatments for the numerous patients they see each week.
The volunteers, staff and supporters of PWMC have dedicated hours of time and commitment this year, leading to the expansion of the clinic’s hours of operation to offer a second day of free health care to those in need. The free clinic is now open on Mondays and Wednesdays in order to accommodate more patients.
The momentum from the event and the apparent need for additional healthcare in our area has brought PWMC to announce their plans to build and capital campaign in which they will be breaking ground on a new facility to house their efforts in the coming year. Exact details and dates for the capital campaign are currently in the works and will be announced soon. Currently they operate on a pop-up basis out of the Point Washington United Methodist Church and are bursting at the seams for space. Details are still being finalized, but the money raised from this year’s Harvest Moon Celebration will propel the clinic into their future plans of expansion.
