Gulf Place to host 2nd annual 30A Half Marathon & 5K
Santa Rosa Beach, Fla. (October 5, 2017) – Gulf Place on 30A announces it will be the official headquarters for the 30A Half Marathon and 5K, presented by The 30A Company, YOLO Board, and 360 Blue, on October 13-15, 2017. All proceeds will benefit The Sonder Project, a locally-based nonprofit that focuses on high-impact, sustainable solutions aimed at ending extreme poverty worldwide.
The race weekend will kick off on Friday, October 13 with the 30A BBQ Festival from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Marina Park in WaterColor. Festivities will include live entertainment and all the BBQ and beer you care to eat and drink. On Saturday, October 14, racers and guests are invited to the packet pickup and expo from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Gulf Place. The main event will begin at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 15 with the start of the half marathon, followed by the 5K start at 7:25 a.m. Finishers will receive a custom medal while all participants will receive a race t-shirt and goody bag.
The USA Track & Field (USATF) certified, out-and-back route starts at Gulf Place and heads east through Blue Mountain Beach, Grayton Beach and WaterColor. The Lake House on Western Lake will serve as the official turn around point. The post-race party will begin at 8:00 a.m., 5K awards at 9:00 a.m. and the half marathon awards at 10:15 a.m. The post-race party will continue into the afternoon, so children and families are encouraged to join.
