Hey y’all! It’s Chelsea Blaich hammering out our newest blog post! As you may know we are always on the go. From events to meetings about events to luncheons and coffee meet-ups – our day-to-day activities take us all over the place.
We’re not complaining though! We wouldn’t change what we are blessed to do for anything. We figured we’d start giving our avid blog readers (we’re talking to you, Donna Proffitt) a glimpse into the life of a “High-Heeled Soldier” in the Proffitt PR army. So here’s what we’ve been up to this June…
June 1 -Â Ba Da Ba Ba Bah, I’m Lovin’ It!
We’re excited to be working with Kay Phelan of Phelan & Lowry on a collaborative campaign for Costa McDonald’s. The owners, managers and crew members of David Costa Enterprises are completely dedicated to making the McDonald’s experience a magical one. The restaurants within the Costa Enterprises Group are totally unique from any other McDonald’s that you will find. Outside of the goodness Costa McDonald’s does within their over 20+ restaurants, they also give back to the community. DID YOU KNOW: Every Monday all Costa McDonald’s donate 50% of all hot and cold coffee purchases to a local charity! Dubbed McCafe with a Cause these people really pour their heart into every cup!
We made the “ask”
As Diamond Members of the Walton Area Chamber of Commerce we have the pleasure of attending their monthly events including the First Friday Breakfast, Power of Networking Luncheon and the more casual Business After Hours. The entire Proffitt PR team attended the June 1 Power of Networking Luncheon hosted at Trebeaché, 30A’s newest, exceptional restaurant and event venue from the creative team that brought you Stinky’s Fish Camp and the oh so delicious Stink Juice (Try it. You’ll thank us later). We had a great time hearing from other businessmen and women about what they are “asking” for. From volunteers to fundraising efforts. Did you miss this luncheon? The next one is July 13 at our client Old Florida Fish House. RSVP HERE TODAY!
June 2 – Schools out for summer, but the FUNdraising has just begun
Reminisce with us about the AMAZING turnout for Century 21 Blue Marlin‘s Pre-Tournament Toast at Legendary Yacht Club. We raised some serious $$$ for the 4th Annual Blue Marlin Charity Golf Tournament thanks to a number the local businesses and individuals who stepped up as sponsors. We are still looking for hole sponsors! Interested? Contact Bre@ProffittPR.com today!
June 7 – Marketing an Unprecedented Estate
We’ve been living the lifestyle of the rich and famous with this recent branding project. Introducing 155 Bannerman! Take an exclusive look beyond the gates of Bannerman Estates, one of the most well-kept secrets on Scenic Highway 30A. An exclusive listing of 850 Properties Broker, Allen Adams, the coastal elegance of this home is seen throughout the nearly 7,000 square feet, plus 4,000 square feet of outdoor living space. See more amazing images and find out more about this home HERE. Also, we’d like to give a shoutout to our friends at SoWal.com for the amazing story they did on the estate.
June 8 – The making of an interactive menu
As part of our partnership with Old Florida Fish House we have been facilitating an overhaul of their website. As a company of self proclaimed #foodies we LOVE to see images of what a restaurant has to offer. From a seafood twist on the modern Rueben to rice-less sushi Old Florida Fish House has it all, and it’s all B-E-AUTIFUL. Thanks to the trigger happy Alissa Aryn Photography, we now have a full visual dining experience at your finger tips! Take a look around and plan your next date night at Old Florida Fish House.
Bountiful Benefit
Our hearts broke to hear the news of Marie Nasri’s, owner and matriarch of Marie’s Bistro, recent fall, but they BURSTED to see the turn out at the recent benefit planned by former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee! The Blues at Blue Mountain Beach event was one for the record books, having HUNDREDS come out to donate their time, funds and love to Hanie and Marie. Arron Stevens of Riptide Booking & Entertainment will be hosting another benefit THIS Saturday 2-4 p.m.
June 9 – Savor the Season
We are excited to be working with the Taylor Haugen Foundation on their annual Savor the Season event coming to Alys Beach‘s Caliza pool November 3 (SAVE THE DATE)! We are looking for sponsors interested in getting involved with this amazing foundation’s annual fundraiser. Proceeds from this event will help the THF, a non-profit organization that provides grants, education and funding to athletic teams, schools and districts through its YESS (Youth Equipment for Sports Safety) Program. The Foundation also recognizes and supports outstanding scholar-athletes with scholarships and awards. Started in 2011, Brian and Kathy Haugen created the foundation in memory of their late son, Taylor, who passed away from a football related injury in 2008. Contact Chelsea@ProffittPR.com if you are interested.
June 13 – Our Summer Intern
We’re excited to have the help of Mary Hannah Williams this summer. A student at Niceville High School, Mary Hannah is seeing the ins and outs of all we do here! She’s a blessing to have and we’re excited to have her.
Gettin’ Crafty
We enjoyed some #teambonding time with Maxine Orange of Southern Art Exchange after work! Maxine helped us create one-of-a-kind paintings of the Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center‘s therapy dogs, Riley and Cody. Speaking for myself – art is not my strong suit. I’ve accepted this, and am getting over it, but I will say regardless of my sloth-like painting it felt so good to present these pieces to Julie Hurst. Our paintings will be hung in our sponsored room at the ECCAC’s newest center in DeFuniak Springs – The Pierce Family Children’s Advocacy Center.
June 15 – Sunset Supper
We had the pleasure of hosting some FABULOUS guests at Sunset Bay Cafe for a VIP taste testing of the newest dinner menu, NOW AVAILABLE Thursday-Saturday 4-9 p.m.
“Sunset Bay Café quickly became one of my favorite area restaurants the day it opened. Their brunch, lunch and now dinner menus have a wonderful variety of offerings for every taste bud. The Southern Fries appetizer and the Chicken & Waffles entrée on the brunch menu are probably two of my favorite items in the area. So excited they are now adding dinner to their line up. A friend and I stopped by for dinner last Friday night and enjoyed the new menu options as well as sitting on the patio at sunset over the bay enjoying live music at the tiki bar. I can’t say enough good things about this locally-owned restaurant. Good people, attentive service, delicious food and a spectacular view.” -Shaye Smith
What’s an UNBirthday Party?
We’re lucky to have some A+ clients! The staff of Chi-Mar Construction volunteer their time every Wednesday to scoop ice cream for Lighthouse Family Retreat UNBirthday Parties. An UNbirthday is any day that is not your birthday. So you can have 364 UNbirthday’s every year! At Lighthouse, they love to celebrate. From little things to big things, they like to throw a party. Lighthouse wanted to give every member of the family the chance to be celebrated, so what better way than a huge birthday party! A cancer diagnosis can shock the entire family, siblings included. They celebrate brothers and sisters whose birthday may have been spent in waiting rooms. They also celebrate life for the child on treatment who maybe didn’t get to have their special day because of a cancer diagnosis.
June 16 – Lots to WINE About
We divided and conquered TWO events - Gulf Place Third Thursday Wine Walkabout AND Walton Area Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours at 30Avenue.

The Corchis family (half of which is picture above) includes George and Amy Corchis and their four children Jordin, Nathan, Alyssa and Lily. Fondly known as amici 30A, the Italian Kitchen will specialize in authentic Neapolitan pizza pies, belly satisfying pastas and entrees perfect for one to delicious Italian small plates that can be shared. Ruth’s Chris Steak House Cheryl Hodges Benefit
We had the pleasure of assisting Ruth’s Chris Steak House of Destin plan a beautiful benefit. A tenured employee and integral party of the of Ruth’s Chris Steak House family, Cheryl Hodges was diagnosed with high grade Bladder Cancer. Having recently undergone her first surgery, the true battle will begin on June 23 for Cheryl as she begins her intensive chemotherapy treatments. As bladder cancer is a notoriously reoccurring disease, Cheryl will have multiple appointments, follow ups, and expensive prescriptions. If you missed the event and wish to donate please do so HERE. The money donated will be used to pay for medical expenses and to help the mother of two with daily living expenses during this time.
June 21 – Fishing for Branding Basics
Our bellies were full and we got our branding basics in check! Thank you FPRA – Northwest Florida Coast Chapter for hosting BrandNüe Strategic Creative for the professional development luncheon at Old Florida Fish House!
Behind the Brisket
Did you know one of our amazing clients is Jim ‘N Nick’s – Florida? We had a GREAT meeting with JNN Corporate Marketing Director Rosie Pihakis, with cheese biscuits of course! JNN is doing a lot more than just serving great Bar-B-Q. In fact, Jim ‘N Nick’s and Marlin Grill are big supporters of this weekend’s Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic kicking off from the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. Check out the weekend’s schedule HERE.

June 24 – BE Brotula’s
We love attending the monthly BE (Business Empowered) Meetings. We usually divide and conquer. One of us will attend the South Walton meeting and one the Destin meeting. These are always very informative and uplifting meetings. It’s icing on the cake that Brotula’s Seafood House & Steamer is the host of the meetings! Great food AND a great message? You can always count us in!
June 29 – PARTAY!
Please join us in wishing our fearless leader, Jessica Proffitt Bracken, a VERY VERY HAPPY, FABULOUS, CHAMPAGNE AND #SELFIE FILLED BIRTHDAY! Jessica founded Proffitt PR over five years ago, nurturing the company atop tables at local coffee shops and bookstores. Since then, her hard work and diligence has helped our company to blossom as the leading public relations, advertising, social media and event planning firm on the Emerald Coast! We wouldn’t be where we are today without Jessica.
