Westonwood Ranch has announced the return of the 2nd Annual Battle for the Buckle Fishing Tournament, taking place September 23–26, at Harbor Docks.

The four-day event brings together anglers from across the Southeast to compete for championship buckles and cash prizes totaling $25,000, all while supporting opportunities for teens and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Every dollar raised helps Westonwood Ranch provide life-changing programs that empower individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities to live more independent, purposeful lives through workforce training, skills education, and meaningful employment.

“Battle for the Buckle is more than a fishing tournament, it’s a chance for our community to rally around a mission that believes every person deserves the opportunity to contribute, belong, and thrive,” said Lindy Wood, Founder and CEO of Westonwood Ranch.

Based in Freeport, Westonwood Ranch serves individuals throughout Northwest Florida with innovative programs that prepare participants for employment and greater independence. From aquaponics and animal care to culinary training, candle making, and dog treat production, participants gain real-world skills while building confidence and meaningful connections.

Tournament festivities begin Wednesday evening with registration, the captain’s dinner, and Calcutta at Harbor Docks. The fishing competition follows on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, with public weigh-ins each afternoon that are free for spectators to attend. The event concludes Saturday with an awards celebration honoring tournament winners and recognizing the community’s impact on the lives of Westonwood Ranch participants.

In addition to the tournament, local businesses are invited to become sponsors, gaining visibility among the region’s fishing community while investing directly in workforce development opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Volunteers and community supporters are also encouraged to attend the weigh-ins and help celebrate the anglers throughout the weekend.

As Westonwood Ranch continues expanding its campus and developing innovative programs, events like Battle for the Buckle play an important role in ensuring individuals with developmental disabilities have access to opportunities that build confidence, independence, and lasting community connections.
