Back Beach Barbecue marked its ninth anniversary on Saturday, June 13, by welcoming the community to its annual Hog Bash, raising $4,000 in support of South Walton Academy.
The festive afternoon brought together barbecue lovers of all ages for a whole smoked hog prepared by the Back Beach Barbecue team, live music from Corey Hall, children’s face painting, and refreshments from local favorites including Distillery 98, Idyll Hounds Brewing Company, and Palm Folly. Guests enjoyed barbecue carved fresh to order alongside the restaurant’s signature barbecue-baked beans and coleslaw, making for a memorable celebration of nine years in business while giving back to the local community.
Through sales and donations, the anniversary event raised $4,000 for South Walton Academy, a private, non-profit inclusion school and pediatric therapy clinic in Santa Rosa Beach. Located at 305 Mack Bayou Road, South Walton Academy is dedicated to empowering every child to reach their highest potential through inclusive education and community engagement. The school serves children from preschool through 12th grade and offers individualized education as well as therapeutic support such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, and behavioral therapy for those who need therapeutic accommodations.
“The success of Hog Bash goes far beyond one incredible day; it represents an investment in the future of our students,” said Calley Middlebrooks, founder of South Walton Academy. “We are incredibly grateful to Back Beach Barbecue for their continued support and for once again choosing South Walton Academy as a Hog Bash beneficiary. We also extend our sincere appreciation to all of the sponsors, volunteers, supporters, and attendees whose generosity made this event possible. Hog Bash proceeds help provide innovative learning experiences, expand educational resources, and create opportunities that empower every child to reach their full potential.”
