On Saturday, June 17, Back Beach Barbecue will host their sixth annual “Hog Bash” to celebrate another year in business in Panama City Beach. Proceeds raised from the annual event will go to the family of a former employee, Megan Duplesis, who passed away unexpectedly last month.

From 12-4 p.m., the Panama City Beach restaurant, located at 19714 Panama City Beach Parkway, will welcome guests for an afternoon celebration featuring a whole smoked hog, live music by The Corduroy Blue, giveaways, and refreshments by local purveyors including Distillery 98 and Idyll Hounds Brewing Company. For a $15 donation, guests will receive a plate filled with Back Beach’s signature pulled pork, barbeque baked beans, and coleslaw. In honor of Father’s Day, Back Beach Barbecue will host a free-to-enter raffle during the event for a $100 gift card. The winner will be drawn on Sunday, June 18.

In year’s past, Back Beach has donated a portion of proceeds raised from the annual event to a local organization. However, in honor of the restaurant’s six-year anniversary, Back Beach Barbecue will be donating proceeds to the family of one of their former employees, Megan Duplesis, who suddenly passed away earlier this month. As owners, Danny and Monica Cosenzi take pride in their staff and treat all their employees like family. It went without question that they wanted this year’s event to honor Megan and support her family during this difficult time.

“Megan was a valued member of our Back Beach family for over a year and would come back and help us for special events like Hog Bash,” pitmaster Shane Kirkland said. “She primarily worked the line and was the best at making sausage but would do anything and everything that needed to be done here. We all miss her very much and send our prayers to her family.”

This event is free and open to the public to attend. To learn more about Back Beach Barbecue and to stay up to date on events, new menu arrivals, and more, like their Facebook page or visit www.backbeachbarbecue.com.
