Costa Enterprises McDonald’s hosted a benefit night on Wednesday, December 16 at their Niceville and Bluewater Bay locations. A portion of the sales made at both locations were combined and given directly to Kohltan Ward’s family. On Monday, January 11 the Costa Enterprises team presented a check of $1,000 to the family.

Both McDonald’s locations saw an increased number of cars in the drive thru during the two hours dedicated to Kohltan. Since the tragic accident in October 2020 where his bike was struck by a vehicle, the entire community has come together to support his family during the immediate and continued aftermath of the tragedy. The Costa family knew instantly after the accident that they wanted to do something for this family, which includes his two parents and three other children all under the age of seven.

“We are so happy to do this for this special family, even during the state of COVID-19,” said David Costa. “We were in awe to see so many people come out and support the family at both of our Niceville locations.”

The initiative was part of ‘Costa Cares,’ the Costa Enterprises McDonald’s mission to give back to the local communities surrounding their 24 locations. The benefit night welcomed guests to stop by the Niceville restaurant, located at 1090 John Sims Parkway, or the Bluewater Bay location, at 4570 Hwy. 20 East, from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2020. Twenty percent of the sales made were tabulated and then given directly to the Ward family.

“We would like to thank everyone who made this event possible including the Costa family, McDonald’s staff, Proffitt PR, and the community,” said Asher Ward, Kohltan’s mother. “We are eternally grateful for the love and support our family has received since the loss of Kohltan!”
