Knot a bad day for a ground breaking ceremony for Ships Chandler of Freeport! The second phase of the project will consist of a 12,000-square foot building dedicated to engine repowers, electronics rigging, gelcoat and fiberglass work, as well as boat customization. It will also include a covered boat and RV storage area with 170 spaces that can fit up to 60-foot vessels

ABC Fine Wine & Spirits officially opened its first Destin location, the second west of Tallahassee, on Thursday, April 30. A crowd of more than 500 attendees enjoyed hors d’oeuvres by Jackacudas Seafood & Sushi, Brotula’s Seafood House & Steamer, Marlin Grill and Lenny’s Sub Shop; and sipped on a variety of wines and spirits, including local beverages Chaste’s 850 and Grayton Beer. ABC Fine Wine & Spirits also presented a check for $5,000 to Fisher House of the Emerald Coast, a local non-profit organization that provides free accommodations for the families of military and veterans while a loved one receives medical treatment.

Proffitt PR recently held its Girls’ Night Out: Arabian Nights at Elephant Walk in Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. The event raised $12,501 for Shelter House. Shelter House is the state-certified domestic violence shelter, serving victims of domestic violence in Okaloosa and Walton counties. Services include a 24-hour hotline, crisis counseling, advocacy, outreach, primary prevention, transitional housing and confidential shelter.

Elephant Walk hosted its grand opening celebration on Thursday, June 20. The local hotspot originated on the Emerald Coast in 1985, and for the past 7 years had been operated as a different concept by Sandestin Resort. Local restaurateurs Wayne Lewis and Tom Rice — also owners of Marlin Grill at Baytowne Wharf and Jim N’ Nick’s BBQ — have taken the reins and brought back the cherished Elephant Walk to Sandestin.
