Indigo 30A, located at 6 Watercolor Boulevard South, is celebrating new owner, Rayna Bishop, with a grand opening celebration on Thursday, June 26 at the store located in the heart of Watercolor.
Originally from Bainbridge, Georgia, Bishop first moved to the Emerald Coast in 2010 after graduating from college and later becoming a wholesale gift rep for the Simblist Group, working with many local retailers on 30A. Bishop went on to relocate to New Orleans in 2014 where she sold historic real estate for 10 years. By late 2023, she was eager to get back to the beach and officially made the move back to 30A in early 2024 with the intention of opening her own retail space. Ten months after her move, Indigo 30A was looking for a new owner and Bishop was up for the challenge.
“Owning my own retail space has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember,” Bishop said. “When the opportunity to take over Indigo, a beloved boutique, came along, I knew it was meant to be. I’m honored to continue the legacy while bringing my own vision to life.”
Bishop worked with Danielle Balanis of Birmingham to refresh the space with updated finishings, wallpaper, paint, and artwork. The existing plank wood floors were removed, revealing original hardwoods that Bishop painted blue and white. She also created an accent wall behind the checkout counter, adorned colorful wallpaper on the dressing room ceilings, and added custom curtains for the dressing rooms. Bishop also worked with E.Kraemer of New Orleans to produce a custom light fixture for the store.
While Bishop added her own flare to the Watercolor store, she kept some of the brands that everyone knows and loves including Mother denim, Dear John, Sundays, Mirth, their selection of handwoven handbags, and the various lines of hats. Indigo 30A also carries popular brands Hemant and Nandita, Ramy Brook, S. Carter Designs, and many more. The new owner has also made an effort to expand the size range and style offerings for all women.
“I feel like we’ve done a good job of finding things that appeal to women of all ages, body types, and styles,” Bishop said. “Whether it’s a tailored linen set or a bohemian inspired caftan, we’ve got you covered!”
On Thursday, June 26 the community is invited to Indigo 30A from 4-6 p.m. for a grand opening celebration featuring craft cocktails poured by Better Together Beverage, whimsical paper flowers from Sugarbird 30A, light bites from fellow Watercolor neighbor Wine World, florals from Emerald Coast Floral, and cookies from Sweet Henrietta’s. There will also be a grand giveaway for guests to enter to win featuring various gift cards and items from Alys Beach, Art of Simple, Blue Giraffe, Blush Beauty Lounge, Erica Pappas, Indigo 30A, JA 30A Salon, Jonah Allen Studio, La Luna Children’s Boutique, Louis Louis, Merry Beth Myrick Designs, Modus Photography, Pure and Couture, Renew and Wellness, Restaurant Paradis, Signature Catering of 30A, Stillwater Aesthetics, SunQuest, Sweet Henrietta’s, The Market Shops, The Red Bar, and Tracery Interiors.
Soon, Indigo will have a new online store, allowing customers from coast to coast to shop and order their favorite pieces. Bishop is also consistently working to bring in new designers to the store that cannot be found everywhere else. She says her goal is to continue working with up-and-coming designers and specialty houses from around the world to bring in a diverse, yet stylish range to Indigo 30A.
