Oh, say, can you see… a new neighborhood coming soon?! Because we can! Owl’s Head Farms is coming to Freeport, Florida, in 2022. In proper Proffitt PR fashion, we celebrated the groundbreaking for this new community with the help of several local vendors. Barbecue was served by Back Beach Barbecue, music was enjoyed courtesy of Sarah Anne Davidson and the Luke Langford Band, and each attendee received branded gifts by Frillseekers Gifts. From start to finish, you could feel the patriotic spirit all around. After all, what makes you feel more American than barbecue and country music?
The celebration kicked off with an official flag raising ceremony by the Army National Guard. Personally, this was one of our favorite parts of the celebration. This 25-foot flag now flies proud over the Owl’s Head Farms Sales House. After the flag raising, pledge of allegiance, and singing of the national anthem by Sarah Anne Davidson, Owl’s Head Farms investor, Doug Duncan, shared his vision for the community. He shared that Owl’s Head Farms has been a dream of his for over 15 years. It was heartwarming to hear that his dream was finally becoming a reality.
Surrounded by friends and family, the official groundbreaking had begun! During the welcoming portion of the afternoon, we learned that Walton County is one of the fastest growing counties in the nation. In Florida, it is the fastest growing county. The Mayor of Freeport, Mr. Russ Barley, promised to support Owl’s Head Farms as it grows and expands across 1,000 acres. With the addition of a new neighborhood, we expect Walton County to continue to experience rapid growth. In addition to homes, Owl’s Head Farms will see commercial businesses, new jobs, and senior living facilities. We are excited to see how this community will thrive!
After speeches and photos, it was time to celebrate. The Luke Langford Band helped us keep a festive atmosphere as our friends at Back Beach Barbecue served chicken, brisket, and their famous banana pudding. Over 100 members of the community came out to celebrate with us. We even had the privilege of welcoming some of our community pageant princesses and queens!
Balloons and decorations provided by Mingle were the finishing touch to our tent and stage. Because we were approaching the 4th of July weekend, we decided to go with a patriotic theme for the groundbreaking. Mingle did the best job at taking our vision and providing an out of this world balloon arch for our backdrop. There is nothing quite like red, white, and blue balloons to get you in the patriotic spirit!
In closing, we want to say thank you to the Freeport and surrounding areas for coming out to celebrate the Owl’s Head Farms groundbreaking. We look forward to construction updates and the grand opening of the first homes in 2022. One of our favorite things to do is celebrate with our community and the Owl’s Head Farms groundbreaking is one celebration we will never forget!
