Trees on the Coast, a local 501(c)3 environmental nonprofit, will host a tree planting ceremony on Friday, November 13, 2020 at Van R. Butler Elementary School in Santa Rosa Beach. This will be the first tree planting ceremony the organization has hosted since COVID-19. In order to keep all students and attendees safe, Trees on the Coast will host the ceremony outside in open air, require everyone to wear masks, and maintain social distancing.

From 7:30- 9 a.m., students, staff and media are invited to join in on planting ten sand oak trees in front of the elementary school near Hwy. 30A spearheaded by school principal, Jimmy Ross. Board members from Trees on the Coast will also be educating the students on the trees and what purpose they will be serving the community.

The trees that are planted will be available for adoption as “Honor Trees.” The cost to adopt along with customizable naming plaque is $250. Those interested in purchasing a naming plaque or getting more information on “Honor Trees” can email [email protected].
